AssuredPartners Support Club In A Box

Insurance industry leaders, AssuredPartners, have announced their support for the Club In A Box scheme, which is now open to applicants. Over the coming 3 years Assured Partners are looking to support communities and their newly forming gig clubs with the resources they need to take to the water.

Zak Blake of AssuredPartners stated “We are genuinely delighted to be a part of the gig community. We have witnessed the inspiring stories of communities that have benefitted from ‘Club In A Box’ in the past and are excited to be a part of the journey that newly forming clubs will go on in the years to come.”

The Club In A Box scheme started in 2017 aiming to help new and maturing clubs to get up and running at minimum expense. The initiative provides participating clubs with a GRP gig, set of oars and associated equipment.

Phoebe Millar, Chair of the CPGA explained, “Previous recipients of ‘Club In A Box’ tell us that being a part of the programme has transformed the rate at which they can engage their community and grow their membership. The cost of equipment can be a real barrier for newly forming clubs and having access to a boat and all the necessary equipment can really help them get lots of people on the water and get the club off the ground.”

The Club In A Box application form is now live for the next round of submissions and available via this link, with a deadline of Monday 26th May, 2025.

Successful applicants may succeed in securing the boat for up to 2 years. A Club In A Box package includes:

  • GRP Training Gig
  • Set of oars
  • Set of seats
  • Cover
  • Some pins
  • Trailer

Clubs who have benefitted from the project to date are:

  • London Cornish, London
  • Newhaven, Sussex
  • Torpoint Rowers, Cornwall
  • Portishead, North Somerset
  • Lewes, Sussex
  • Chichester Yacht Club, West Sussex
  • Thames Barbarians, Kent
  • EpicGigability, Cornwall
  • Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset
  • Brading Haven Yacht Club, Isle of Wight
  • Midland Cornish Rowing Club, Derbyshire

A number of these clubs have gone on become members of the CPGA and are serving their communities by providing fitness, well-being and social activities.

Thanks to AssuredPartners the future of the scheme and one lucky club looks bright. We look forward to revealing the outcome of the 2025 application process in June.
