The Cornish Pilot Gig Association is delighted to announce that the 2026 National County Championships (NCC) will take place on Saturday 10th October 2026 at Queen Anne’s Battery, Plymouth.
This year’s Championships will be hosted by Coxside Gig Club, one of the CPGA’s newest full member clubs, having been welcomed into full membership at the Association’s Annual General Meeting in January 2026.
Alex Warner, Club Manager at Coxside Gig Club, said: “As a new club, we are absolutely delighted to be hosting these championship events. We look forward to welcoming everyone to Plymouth and promise to build on the success of last year’s offering. Along with up-close action on the water, our planned shoreside support, exhibitors, and activities should help entertain the whole family throughout the weekend, here at Queen Anne’s Battery – our world-class amphitheatre to Plymouth Sound.”
The National County Championships is one of the highlights of the CPGA racing calendar, where county squads convene to compete across multiple age categories including U14, U16, 25&U, Senior, Vets, Super Vets and Masters.
County crews represent all counties where CPGA member clubs are based: Bristol, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, Devon, Dorset, Essex, Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Kent, London, Norfolk, Somerset, and Sussex. Where required, some counties may combine to create representative sides, based on county selector nominations.
County squad and selection activity has continued from last season and each participating county will field one crew per category.

The NCC on the Saturday will be followed on Sunday by the Junior International Championships, providing young people with a great weekend of competition and camaraderie on the water.
