The launch of the membership is a key milestone in the delivery of a five year strategy, ‘Our Community – Our Sport’. The strategy was shaped by CPGA member clubs and wider community feedback over many months.

Peter Fisher, Trustee of the Cornish Pilot Gig Association said, “We are grateful to everyone for their input during our consultation period and also through the development of our new individual membership scheme. The new GigRower membership will help us to make the changes our members have asked for across the sport”.

GigRower membership costs £25 per year. Member benefits include eligibility for entry to CPGA championship events, which will be required for all adult championship participants from June 2022. Participants under the age of 18 do not require membership. Competitors will need GigRower membership at the following events:
25th June – CPGA Mixed Championships hosted by Caradon Gig Club
21st August – CPGA Veterans Championships hosted by Brixham Gig Club
3rd and 4th September – CPGA Ladies’ County Championships hosted by Newquay Rowing Club
17th and 18th September – CPGA Men’s County Championships hosted by Newquay Rowing Club

GigRower team member, Claire Tripp said, “Becoming a GigRower member is an opportunity to help shape the sport for the future. Member support will help the CPGA to deliver coaching training, enhance existing competitions, develop junior rowing and much more”.
