Next weekend (21st and 22nd September) the harbour at Newquay will be filled with 100 mens gig crews from across the country battling it out to take the top spot at the Newquay Championships 2019.
Run over two days, Round 1 and 2 (weather permitting) will be completed on the Saturday, with the quarters, semis and final on the Sunday. Five rounds of racing for those who compete in the final.
The gig selection has been made by Newquay, who extend thanks to all clubs who have agreed to the loans to make this years championships possible.
Reminders:
• There are currently 100 mens crew entered, any withdrawals will be indicated on the day.
• All gigs are loaned in good faith and therefore please treat the gigs appropriately. NO GETTING INTO THE GIGS WHILST ON THE BEACH
• All of your rowers must be on your register of rowers and no other clubs, the deadline for transfer was 1/8/19.
• Crew Registration Forms need to be completed and handed in at registration – these will be checked against your register of rowers.
• All coxes must wear a lifejacket and any rowers who have rowed U16 this year must wear a lifejacket.
• The registration / HQ has moved, this will be found in the Chairman’s Room of Newquay Rowing Club (the room above the new gig shed) please do not visit the RNLI ops room.
• You must have sufficient kit in case you are drawn against your clubs’ crews.
• Your cox must have two (2) years coxing experience – please see the update of 28/7/19.
The Nq Crew Registration Form needs to be completed and handed in the Racing HQ in the Chairman’s Room of Newquay Rowing Club on Saturday morning.
The Newquay Mens Draw R1 2019, please note there are likely to be a few crews that withdraw, these will be shown on the board on the day
