The second Club in a Box equipment package – Walter Hicks (Korev) has begun another adventure in Sussex. Walter Hicks has joined the Lewes Pilot Gig Club, having previously spent two years at Torpoint.
The CPGA with funding from St Austell Brewery, Sport England and British Rowing launched the second equipment package in July 2017. The equipment package consists of a GRP training gig, trailer, oars, cushions, cover and thole pins (hopefully). Basically, everything you need to get on the water and rowing. There is a minimal loan fee per year which is then used when the GRP has its overhaul at the end of the loan period.
Club vice chair – Catherine Cridland commented ‘Lewes Pilot Gig Club are delighted to welcome Walter Hicks (Korev) to Sussex for the next year as part of the CPGA’s Club in a Box scheme. This will enable our club to grow, welcoming many new members and enabling us to take part in more events across the country.
We will be getting Walter out on the water this coming weekend and look forward to sharing our club developments with all.’
With both Club in a Box packages now with new clubs for a 12 month period, any club wishing to express an interest in potentially applying for a loan in 2020. You can register to do so now and will be contacted when the applications go live, roughly June 2020. Please email secretary@cpga.co.uk
